Wildlife Conservation Centre

March 15th, 2009. Sue and Alissa spent the day getting used to the time and visiting the Wildlife Education Centre, an animal rescue centre upgraded from the former Entebbe Zoo. It has been improved by creating more space for the animals with some of the characteristics of their natural homes. Ann was still enroute to Uganda. Some of the highlights from the Wildlife Centre were:

  • A hammerkop (Medium sized long billed bird) attempting to eat a large frog and dipping it into the water like a chicken McNugget.

  • The amazingly large Shoebill Stork.

  • Warthogs putting on a kissing show.

  • The Chimpanzee doing skilled Yoga moves.
There was lots of other wildlife, the cages were huge and the animals seemed very happy. We hope to post some pictures later.
