Thinking Green!

March 17th....St.Patrick’s Day

Upon arrival at JGI today we met with Tracy to delegate the workshop responsibilities. We had the opportunity to review the workshop materials created by the pilot project group from July 2008. Throughout the afternoon we were knee-deep in cooperative learning, experiential education and multiple intelligence theories as vehicles for environmental education. We were excited to begin brainstorming lesson plans for the workshop in Bushenyi next week.

Some of the staff at JGI took us to the Entebbe night market, a weekly event. There we had a chance to pour over second hand clothing that we learned comes from abroad, donated by those ready to clean out their closets. The diversity of items ranged from Obama watches to designer jeans, but also included a huge range of fresh produce, meats and grains. We decided to take advantage of the infamous delicious local ‘rolex’: a chapatti and egg roll-up. Afterwards, we skillfully avoided the Grand Canyon-esque pot-holes, as made our way home in the pitch black night.
